Because I do try to bear in mind that I'm speaking to a global audiance. Of course, sometimes I go a tad overboard with that. A couple weeks ago at work I was doing a maintenance schedule which included temperature changes. I kept saying "degrees fahrenheit" through the whole chart. Of course, since in the US we only measure temp in fahrenheit that's a bit unecessary, a fact that was pointed out to me by the maintenance supervisor.
