I always enjoyed these when I have a chance. Don't expect rymes, and I do wander off to Haiku's from time to time as well as the occasional Senryu. The Battle From their point of view they are righteous holding back a wayward foe. Others only watch the battle trying to understand why it is waged. From our point of view the battle must be won for peace and freedoms sake. Take heed for the winds of change always come upon the wings of chaos. Be ready for it or fall to the storm. Winter Love Glittering stars shine Eyes reflect luminous moon Winters icy breath |

Oooh, I am impressed - you've got the 'twist' in the final line and everything! Those are beautiful. I may join you in the poetry next term - right now I am up the the eyeballs with short fictipon (that right now needs to be just a few words shorter to meet the word count limit...) |

I was a wildland fire fighter for the B.I.A. in 2003 in Utah. I wrote this after a fire that was dubbed "The Moon Water fire" (I think for a lake nearby). I don't really write as much poetry as I used to so I had to dig one of the old ones out. Hope you all enjoy
Fire Storm The Ladder Fuels rose all about Tip tops reaching for the blue sky The flames licked the clouds And the smoke plumes were high We beat and pulled and ripped the earth To stop the flames so nigh And our ashen faces told the truth We earned our every dime Thinking on the pleasantries of home And letting not an hour go by That we thought not of the baths awaiting And the thoughts brought forth many a sigh Yet we trudged forth, not giving up On Moon Water's steepest sides And letting not the heat and lightning Our weakness slowly dies Hot Spotting through thickest bush Cold Trailing though thorn Sweating out the hours ticking On fire storms we are reborn 2003 |
